Dean Forest Retreats
Woodpecker Cottage and Dipper’s Hut are two beautiful waterside forest retreats with private hot tubs, set in 3/4 acre of idyllic grounds with a spectacular woodland backdrop. Our charming 1 bedroom holiday cottage (sleeps 2) and romantic shepherd hut (sleeps 2) are located on the banks of the local Blackpool Brook, which meanders slowly through the forest retreats stunning gardens. Both properties are Dog Friendly.
Ideally situated on the outskirts of Blakeney Village, our forest retreats are perfectly located for those wanting to explore the wonderful Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, whether on foot, by bike or car.

One of our two idyllic forest retreats, Woodpecker Cottage is a charming & characterful detached holiday cottage with private hot tub. It includes a king size bedroom with ensuite bathroom, open plan living/dining area, woodburning stove, TV and a fully equipped modern kitchen. Outside, the cottage has its own private patio area with hot tub (available for hire at a cost of £20 per night) where you can relax and unwind to the sounds of the babbling brook!
Our beautiful forest retreat also benefits from its own private outdoor dining area and the enjoyment of 3/4 acre of grounds which includes the island orchard, the sun loungers and summer gazebo.

The second of our beautiful forest retreats is our bespoke, luxuriously appointed shepherds hut for two, with its own private hot tub overlooking the magical island gardens and idyllic babbling brook. Our romantic forest hideaway includes an open plan living space which incorporates a comfy double bed with luxury bedlinen, seating/dining area, kitchenette, wood burning stove, in addition to a full ensuite bathroom (shower, wc and washbasin).
Outside, Dipper’s Hut has its own extensive private patio area including hot tub, dining area with BBQ and seating area – the perfect place for a relaxing forest holiday!
Private Hot Tubs
Each of our forest retreats has its own private hot tub, perfectly situated on the banks of the enchanting Blackpool Brook. Our wonderful hot tubs are the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day’s exploring the wonderful Forest of Dean or the nearby magnificent Wye Valley!.

Our boutique forest retreats are ideally situated for exploring our beautiful Forest of Dean whether on foot, bike or by car. The major attractions of Mallards Pike Lake and Wenchford Picnic site are only a few minute’s drive away, while many of the highlights of the spectacular Wye Valley, such as Symonds Yat and the picturesque town of Ross-on-Wye, are within a half an hour drive.

Getting to Dean Forest Retreats
By Car
Dean Forest Retreats is less than 1 mile from Blakeney village and is easily accessible from the A48 from Gloucester (northbound) and Chepstow (southbound).
By Bus
Stagecoach operates a number of services (22, 23 and 24) that run throughout the Forest of Dean (from Gloucester and Chepstow) stopping at Blakeney The nearest bus stop is in Blakeney and is a 10-15 minute walk.
By Rail
By Air
Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham International Airports are all within easy reach.
Helicopter landing is available on-site for small-medium sized craft (up to say a Bell 407 etc, A109 etc.). The approach is made along a steep sided valley but obsticles are minimal.
